After this process, natural hair growth is very often seen in the places that hair loss was prominent.

In our present day, %50 of men over their fifties experience hair loss. Therefore, Hair Transplantation is one of the most common aesthetic operations men choose. However, hair loss is not exclusive to men. Women experience hair loss and seek to have hair transplantations as well.

What Causes Hair Loss?

Hair loss is often caused by genetic reasons. In some cases, it might be caused by aging, traumatic lacerations or various medical reasons. No matter what causes it, hair transplantation is a procedure an be applied to anyone who has enough hair follicles on their body.

Hair transplantation is not limited to our heads either. Hair transplantation can also be done for the eyebrows, beard area and moustache area.

How Is It Done?

Firstly, a spot is determined to be the donor. This is usually the neck. Hair follicles that are drawn from the donor spot is transplanted to the desired spot. The drawn hair follicles are called greft. In some cases, the density of the hair taken from the neck might not be enough for the plantation. In those cases, the greft might be taken from another hair source in the body, like the arms, legs or the chest.

The duration depends on the patient and the severity of the hair loss. It takes approximately a couple of hours. In cases where the hairless spot is too big, there might be two or more seances. Hair transplantation is usually done under local anasthesia. After the operation a special bandage is applied to the head. The patient stays in the hospital for a couple of hours and if no complications arise, the patient gets discharged. Pain after surgery is a rare occurence, but if needed pain-killers are provided to the patient.

The patient can go back to working after a short house rest. The patient should protect their hair, so the bandages should be worn for some time. The bandages also get changed after some days.

Do I Need Hair Transplantation?

Hair loss is an extreme situation. It is different from regular hair loss. A healthy person might lose 80 to 100 strands of hair and it is normal. If you experience more hair loss than that or have hairless spots on your hair you need treatments. If the medical treatments do not work you might try Hair Transplantation, which is a surgical procedure.

Why Does My Hair Fall Out After Hair Transplantation?

After the hair transplantation procedure, the hair follicles that were planted on the desired spot will fall out. This is normal and expected. The hairs that fell out will grow in time. After this temporary fall out, the follicles will fall into place and grow healthily.
